For the new year I am adding a new look
to the Trail of Tears knife. I have started inlaying the seal of
the Cherokee Nation into the handle. The older model without it
will still be available on request. The price of the knife is
still the same, $195.00, which also includes shipping, certificate of
authenticity, 2 gig thumb drive of video, and leather pouch sheath with
clip. The video can be down loaded to your computer and you are
encouraged to shared it with others.
I have started making what I call
"Heirloom Knives". These are knives that will have some or all the
parts of the knife furnished by the customer to make a knife for them with a
part of their family history. I am making them in the chef style
knives for the kitchen and hope they will be used for a very long time.
Passed down and used some more. The knife shown below is the first one
I made for my family. It is made from the front coil spring of my
Father's old 89 Ford that he bought new and has been passed to me and then
on down to his grandson. The handle material came from a coffee table
that my brother made my parents when he was in high school shop shop class
under Mr. Swofford around 1964. I would be very glad to help some one
else turn their family memory into an Heirloom Knife. I can use
my/customer steel and work with a suitable handle material from the
customer. Which ever I can do to help the customer realize their goal.
This knife has a 5" blade and is 9
3/4 inches OAL with stabilized handle.
Refer to my price guide on the NDN
integral page to figure approximate cost.
.531" and .39" dia. 52100 round
bar. $4.00 per pound.
