May 3, 2013 - KGA Shop Tour
KGA Spring Shop Tour
May 4, 2013
The spring shop tour will be held at the home of Ray Kirk just south of Tahlequah, OK. His physical address is 25494 So. 530 Road, Park Hill, OK. 74451 This is located one mile east of Hwy 82 on Horse Shoe Bend Road and 4/10ths of a mile south. There will be a knife show sign at the corner of Horse shoe bend road and So. 530 road.
Hours are from 10:00 AM to around 4:00 PM.
Horse Shoe Bend Road is located about a 1/4 mile south of Jimmy Houston's outdoors store and Marina. There is a Phillips 66 Super station on the south side of the road when you turn. If any one has any problems, you can call me at 918-207-8076.
Our agenda this year will be demonstrations by Charles Conner, David Anders, and myself.
Charles will be doing an ivory scrimshaw demo and also have some of his work for viewing. Charles has been a full time scrimshaw artist over 20 years.
David Anders will have a class on damascus designs and how he makes the patterns. David is a Mastersmith in the American Bladesmith Society and lives in Center Ridge, Arkansas.
During this time there will be tickets sold for the iron in the hat. This is a method of raising money for our club to help out with the shop tours and other expenses. Please donate something if you are able. ALL the ticket holders will be eligible for the grand prize, an integral knife and sheath. If you buy a ticket, you may win. All tickets will be placed into a large bowl and then the winning ticket will be drawn. If you have won something already, your ticket will still go into the pot for the grand prize drawing. The drawing will be held around 1:00 PM
After lunch, this year is deer chili and brown beans with corn bread and biscuits, and the drawings, we will again be doing demonstrations.
Ray Kirk will be showing the steps to making a knife from round bar, start to finish.
We will also have lots of tail gate sales so if you have something, material or knives, please bring them.
I will try to send this again next week to help refresh your memory, especially if it is like mine.
